- Both plugins must be the latest version and match your server version (Paper/Purpur/Spigot).
- Install GeyserMC and Floodgate together - Floodgate is what lets Bedrock players join without a Java account.
- Always use a full Restart from the panel - do not use /reload, it does not reload plugin configs properly.
Step 1: Install both plugins (latest versions)
Install the newest versions of these two plugins:
- GeyserMC (the Geyser-Spigot jar) - the bridge that lets Bedrock players connect.
- Floodgate (the floodgate jar) - lets Bedrock players join without a Java account.
You can install them from your panel's plugin installer (search and install), or download both jars and upload them to your server's plugins folder through Files. Use the latest build for both.
Step 2: Restart the server once
After both jars are in the plugins folder, restart the server once. This first restart lets GeyserMC and Floodgate create their default config files - the config.yml does not exist before this restart.
Step 3: Open GeyserMC config.yml
Go to Files → plugins → GeyserMC and open config.yml.
Step 4: Replace the port with your server port
Find the port option in config.yml. Replace its value with your server's port (the port shown on your server card in the panel). This makes GeyserMC listen on the correct port so Bedrock players can connect using your server IP and port.
Step 5: Change auth-type from online to floodgate
Just below that, find the auth-type option. It is set to online by default - remove that and set it to:
auth-type: floodgate
This is what makes Floodgate handle authentication, so Bedrock players can join directly without a Java account.
Step 6: Restart the server again
Save config.yml and restart the server once more. After this restart your GeyserMC plugin is active - Bedrock players can now join your Java server using your server IP and port.
- Both latest-version jars are in plugins/ (GeyserMC + Floodgate).
- Server was restarted after install (once) and after config changes (once) - two restarts total.
- port = your server's port (not the default).
- auth-type = floodgate (not online).
